INSIGHTS SUBMITTING GUIDE

YAIA's blog, Insights, publishes commentary and analysis of international affairs. We are interested in high-quality, thoughtfully written pieces, providing unique perspectives on contemporary issues. Whether you are an undergraduate student, or early- to mid-career professional with postgraduate studies, research, government, or think-tank experience, we highly encourage you to submit a piece if you have an interesting take on contemporary issues facing Australia, the Indo-Pacific, or the world.

LENGTH: 700 - 900 words

 

TITLE:

Choose an engaging title to accompany your article 

 

REFERENCING

Articles should not contain any formal academic referencing (bibliographies and footnotes) but should instead use hyperlinks. Please ensure that entire sentences are not hyperlinked, only the relevant subject words. As far as possible, please use references that are free to access (no paywalled newspaper or journal articles). 


IMAGE: 

Please attach a preferred image to be published alongside your article. Please ensure that it is a high-quality, landscape image, and licensed for reuse under a Creative Commons licence (providing full attribution and a hyperlink to the original source). ​

 

AUTHOR BIOGRAPHY: 

Include a one line biography to be published alongside your work with your relevant academic and professional details

SUBJECT MATTER:

We publish articles on a range of topics related to international relations. These include, but are certainly not limited to: geopolitics, climate change, technology and cyber, cultural diplomacy, social movements, the economy, and multilateral engagement. If you are unsure whether your article's subject matter will be appropriate for Insights, please send an email to publications@youngausint.org.au

BEFORE YOU SUBMIT

 

EDITING

Please ensure that you have edited, fact-checked and spell-checked your work. As a volunteer-run organisation, we do not have the resources to provide extensive feedback, so any submissions that are not up to standard will not be published. Insights uses the ABC Editorial Style Guide.  

 

PUBLISHING AGREEMENT

Read and agree to our Publishing Agreement.

  • Please state that you have read and agreed to our Publishing Agreement in the email submitting your article. 

 

 

HOW TO SUBMIT

 

Please submit your work in a Word or Google Doc format to publications@youngausint.org.au

 

Submissions will be accepted on a rolling basis. We will endeavour to get back to you as soon as possible.  

We request that you do not submit your work to Insights whilst it is under consideration for publication elsewhere, and vice versa.
